. Citibank Closes UAE Branches Amid Gulf Tensions
Citibank is shutting nearly all its UAE branches, keeping just one open, and telling staff in Dubai offices to work from home.
The move comes after Iran warned it could target U.S. and Israeli-linked banks and businesses across the Gulf.
Other banks are reacting too: Standard Chartered is evacuating Dubai offices, and HSBC has temporarily closed branches in Qatar.
Tensions are rising as Iranian drone and missile activity continues. Dubai reported a minor drone incident in Al-Badaa Thursday, with no injuries, and quickly put out a fire at a nearby high-rise.
Video of the alleged drone strike on the luxury building is circulating online (awaiting verification).
